‘Woh Stree Hai’ – Netizens slam Telugu actress Sowmya Janu for attacking a traffic home guard after driving in the wrong lane in a viral video
Online footage shows Sowmya Janu cursing and ripping the clothes of a traffic police officer who stopped her for driving on the wrong side of the road. The incident happened in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills when the Telugu actor was driving her Jaguar in the incorrect direction, according to a report by DNA.
Actor Sowmya Janu from Telugu was apparently stopped by an on-duty traffic home guard. According to the DNA report, the event happened on a Saturday night. The actor allegedly persisted in verbally abusing the traffic home guard and even physically attacking him in spite of passersby’s attempts to step in; Sowmya even tore the home guard’s clothes and stole his phone.
The traffic home guard filed a complaint with the Banjara Hills police station, according to the portal. He provided details of the incident and evidence in the form of a video he had taken of actress Sowmya Janu. According to reports, the police have opened a case and begun an investigation. The video of the Telugu actor hitting the policeman in Hyderabad has received negative feedback on social media. A person tweeted Sowmya Janu’s video along with the statement, “In the video, she (Sowmya Janu) is admitting that she was driving in the wrong direction, but still she is defending her action.”

A report from DNA India claims that despite attempts by onlookers to step in, it was unable to calm her down. Rather, she is said to have physically attacked the official as the situation worsened. According to the report, Sowmya also took his phone and tore his clothes. Several people on X shared the video. She is being charged under sections 184 MVA and 353 IPC. Sowmya Janu has not yet responded to the event. In the meantime, a number of social media users are calling for the actress to face harsh penalties.
