Pakistan were dealt a heartbreaking defeat in the 20-20 World Cup Final by the hands of Jos Buttler-led England side. The Men in Green failed to create a good total as San Curran and co. ran through Pakistan’s batting lineup in the first innings.

A great fightback from Pakistan bowlers ensued in the second but it wasn’t sufficient to stop England from winning their second 20-20 World Cup. On the back of Ben Stokes’s half-century, England reached the target in just 19 overs with 5 wickets to spare.

What followed was a reaction from cricket fans and ex-players alike. Many congratulated the England team for a great campaign while many showed dejection at Pakistan’s loss. There were many, mostly Indian cricket fans, who also enjoyed their arch-rival’s loss in the final. Memes and funny posts soon started to fill up cricketing circles on social media with many ex-cricketers taking a significant part in those.

One such ex-player who is very active on social media for his great insights and funny banters is Shoaib Akhtar. The Rawalpindi Express remains in the limelight for his take on cricket and is many times clashed with other players and officials as well.

One such incident of funny banter was seen after Pakistan’s loss against England on Sunday. Indian pace bowler Mohammad Shami has replied to a heartbroken post made by Akhtar after Pakistan’s loss to England in the final.

While quoting Akhtar’s post, Shami wrote, “Sorry brother. It’s called karma [Three broken hearts emoji]”

The Indian bowler seems to be hinting at Akhtar’s cheeky response to India’s loss against the same opponents in the semi-final. Many fans in comments have seconded Shami’s response to Akhtar’s post.

Pakistan and India have meanwhile faced once in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in which the Men in Blue emerged victorious on the back of Virat Kohli’s sensational half-century. India were then thrown out of the competition with a humiliating 10-wicket loss against England while Pakistan lost the final by 5 wickets against the same Jos Butler-led England side.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Shami’s post:
