‘Winning test matches in Australia against Australia isn’t everyone’s cup of tea’- Fans react as Australia thrash Pakistan by 360 runs in first Test

Pakistan lost 15th consecutive test match in Australia as they suffered a 360-runs defeat in Perth

Australia put up a clinical show in the first test at Optus Stadium in Perth as they crushed Pakistan by 360 runs on the fourth day of the first match. With a huge 360-run loss in the first test, Pakistan etched a humiliating record to their name as it is Pakistan’s 15th consecutive test defeat on Australian soil. After gaining a sizeable lead of 216 runs in the first innings Australia put up 233 runs in the second innings setting Pakistan a near-impossible target of 450 runs in the fourth innings.

As Pakistan came in to bat people expected their batters to show some resilience and put up a fight against Australia in their conditions but the Aussie bowlers ruled the roost and didn’t give the Pakistani batters any chance. Pakistan got bowled out for a meagre total of 89 runs chasing 450, it is their third-lowest total in Australia.

Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood were the picks of the bowlers as they took 3 wickets apiece while Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins chipped in with 2 and 1 wickets respectively. It proved to be a sweet victory for Nathan Lyon as he also entered into the 500-wicket club in Test cricket by taking the wicket of Faheem Ashraf in the second innings.

Pakistan haven’t won a single Test in Australia in 28 years

Saud Shakeel was the only Pakistan batter who could show some grit and topped the batting chart with his 24 runs. Apart from Saud, it was a disappointing show by other Pakistan batters. Australia has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-test match series. The next test match between them is set to take place at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Stadium on the occasion of Boxing Day on 26th December.

Their horrific run on Australian soil continues as they haven’t been able to win a single test in Australia in the last 28 years. Pakistan’s 15th loss on the trot in Australia has caused a social media meltdown with fans criticizing the Pakistan team in a fun banter. Here are some of the tweets from cricket fans on X:
