‘Will he blame Tendulkar for this?’ – Fans lambast Vinod Kambli after he was booked for assaulting his wife in Bandra
An FIR has been lodged by the Mumbai Police on Vinod Kambli who reportedly assaulted and abused his wife at his home in Suburban Bandra when he was in an intoxicated state. No arrest has been made concerning the particular incident.
A Police complaint was filed by his wife Andrea claiming that the 51-year-old threw the handle of a cooking pan due to which she suffered head injuries, an official from Bandra Police Station stated. The incident happened between 1 and 1:30 PM on Friday when Kambli, who was under the strong influence of alcohol, started mistreating his wife, the police official said.
Andrea underwent a medical examination at Bhabha Hospital
Kambli, who has a 12-year-old son had seen the horrific incident unfold in front of his eyes and tried his best to stop the fight but to make matters worse, Kambli went into the kitchen and then he brought a broken handle of a frying pan and threw it wildly at his wife injuring her in the process. The official said, quoting the complainant.
Andrea underwent a medical examination at Bhabha hospital. Taking the complaint into consideration, the Bandra Police registered an FIR on Kambli taking into account two sections of the Indian Penal Code Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), the official stated.
An investigation is underway regarding the case, the official added. Kambli in a 10-year career has scored 2477 runs for India at an average of 32.59 and a strike rate of 72.94 in 104 matches. He has made 14 half-centuries and two centuries to his name. He has played 17 Tests for the national side and has scored 1084 runs at an average of 54.20 and has scored four fifties and three hundreds.
The former left-handed batter was a close friend of Sachin Tendulkar and Kambli was most famous for sharing a 664-run partnership with the little master against St Xaviers school. He had also taken 6-37 in that game. Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter-
#VinodKambli was seen as more talented cricketer(though had issues against short balls) than #SachinTendulkar, but Kambli's off-field behaviour was often controversial.
To hide these allegations, at one point he even alleged that due to his SC caste, he didn't get more chances. https://t.co/RT3TMRcXGC— Ashish Narayan 🇮🇳 (@iAshishNarayan) February 5, 2023

#VinodKambli is stuck in a vicious cycle of lack of money & opportunity.
Whatever he did must have arisen out of an argument over money.
However there is no justification for domestic violence ever.
He should be arrested.— Mike Desai (@MikeDesai) February 5, 2023
Then Vinod Kambli will say he has no work.

Vinod Kambli could have achieved so much if not for his discipline issues.

From a plethora of records before he turned 23, to being compared with and even thought of as better than Tendulkar at the time by some folks, and retiring from cricket when just 28… Really sad to see what has become of Vinod Kambli over the years. pic.twitter.com/agw9h9lGq0

Won't be surprised if Kambli blames Tendulkar for this as well…🤡

Perhaps he watched IND vs SL '96 Semifinal which India lost badly.
India managed to score 120 only while chasing the mammoth total of 251 runs due to which Eden Gardens crowd turned violent and burnt the stands.
The match referee forfeited the game & Kambli started crying.
