Why India are not able to win against Australia in finals?
India’s U19 team had a big responsibility to take revenge on senior players as they lost twice against Australia in just time of eight months.
All eyes were on Uday Saharan as he was captain of the India U19 team. In Benoni, it was India again who lost to Australia U19 by 79 runs. Indian captain Rohit Sharma first lost the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia in June and later lost the 2023 ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad.
India U19 had the resources to overcome against Australia. But the tall fast bowlers of Australia took the help of the bounce of the wicket. Indian batters made a couple of rash shots including captain Uday Saharan as they gave up simple catching practice to the Australian fielders.
The original host of the U19 World Cup was Sri Lanka, but due to getting suspended by the Cricket Governing Body, there could have been a different story today. In the slow wickets, India has the upper hand. But India was outclassed by Australia.
India U19 wouldn’t be in the final as they might be knocked out in the semi-final against South Africa. As the top-order batsmen failed to score runs against African pacer Uday Saharan, Sachin Dhas stood up and made a strong partnership to make sure that India went into the final.
The Australian factor extends to Women’s cricket
Not only Men’s lost in the final against Australia, but Women’s also lost the T20 World Cup against Australia in March 2022. Australia is a tough team to defeat in the knockout of the World Cup as they completely play a different game.
Australia in the finals have a different mindset. They are always one step ahead in the game. Even if the game is going out of Australia’s hands they know how to bring the game back. Thus, their calm composure helped them to win the knockout matches.
