Australia and Pakistan are fighting it out in the second test of the three-match test series at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. After a rain-curtailed first day, Australia weren’t able to add much to their first-day total and got all out for 318 runs with Marnus Labuschagne top-scoring with 63 runs.

Pakistan bowled well on the second day but the 43 extras they conceded helped Australia to reach a competitive total of 318 runs. Pakistan began their run chase and lost Imam-ul-Haq cheaply for 10 runs but after that, Abdullah Shafique and Shaan Masood put on a masterclass by putting up a defiant partnership of 90 runs before Shafique perished to a sensational reflex catch by Pat Cummins on his bowling.

Even after losing their second wicket, Pakistan were looking at a decent position with 124 for the loss of 2 wickets but it was the beginning of a mini-collapse for Pakistan, something Pakistan is known for as he was 151- 5 in no time from 124-1.

Babar Azam fails again

Out of all the five wickets that fell so far the one of Babar Azam was the one that hurt Pakistan the most. Babar is considered to be the best batter of Pakistan and the hopes of millions of Pakistan cricket team’s fans relied heavily on him at the start of the test series but Babar Azam’s batting woes continued as he failed to deliver with the bat once again.

Babar Azam has been out of form since the recently concluded ODI World Cup and his struggles with the bat have continued in the Australian summer as well which is hurting Pakistan immensely as he is the backbone of Pakistan’s batting.

His recent struggles with the bat have got the fans going on social media with many even questioning his abilities to perform at the big stages against big teams. Cricket fans from around the cricket spectrum took to social media platform X to express their views on Babar Azam’s poor run. H
