Harbhajan Singh, the Indian spinner, opened up on Virat Kohli ahead of the much-awaited Border-Gavaskar trophy and claimed that the right-handed batter might regain his lost format in the longest format of the game. For the unversed, Kohli was at his supreme best during the 20-20 World Cup 2022 and it remains to be seen if he would be able to replicate the same in the longest format of the game as well.

The off-spinner claimed that Kohli must be looking to make an impact with the bat, given that he is in his top-notch form in the shorter format. Harbhajan elaborated on the expectations from the Indian superstar and added that Kohli’s form is determined by his century, meaning that the batter would be considered out of form if he does not score a ton.

“I think this is the series where Virat Kohli’s bat will speak vociferously. When he starts going, we know he won’t stop. If India want to play well in this series then the run machine will have to take the onus and score big runs. Just forget what happened in the past. Whatever the fault was in the technique has now been left behind. Everything is ok (and) Virat Kohli is back in form,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.

Virat Kohli is the kind of player who deserves more praise than what he gets: Harbhajan Singh

The talented cricketer highlighted Kohli’s poor run in the Tests vs Bangladesh played in December 2022 and claimed that it happens once in a while for a player of such stature. For the unversed, the Indian superstar failed to make an impact with the bat for team India during the series against the Bangla Tigers and would look to turn things around in the upcoming Tests vs the Baggy Greens.

“However, he couldn’t make runs in the Bangladesh series. Doesn’t matter. I hope that when a player of Virat Kohli’s stature returns to form, they do win their team matches. This is the time to take your team to WTC final. Virat Kohli is the kind of player who deserves more praise than what he gets. He has scored so many runs (over the years), so when he comes out to bat, we expect him to score no less than 100 runs. We consider his form based on this,” he added.
