‘What a dream team’ – Twitter rejoices as India Legends tarnish Sri Lanka Legends in finals to defend RSWS title
India Legends and Sri Lanka Legends faced off in the finals of the Road Safety World Series (RSWS) 2022. Both the teams were remarkable in the tournament and the summit clash turned out to be an even better spectacle.
With regards to the first innings, the Sachin Tendulkar-led team opted to bat first and secured an emphatic powerplay. The India Legends amassed 51 runs on the board and a huge total was on the cards. Naman Ojha, who opened the innings for the veterans, looked in great touch as he kept finding the boundaries at frequent intervals.
Ojha, who scored an unbeaten 90 runs in the semi-finals, reached the three-figure mark in the summit clash. In addition to his mighty century, India Legends put up a total of 195 runs at the end of the first innings. Contrary to his first fifty, he completed his next fifty at a blistering pace as it took only 28 balls to convert his fifty into a hundred.
India Legends contain mighty Sri Lankan batting attack
Sri Lanka Legends failed to make the best use of the powerplay and ended up losing two wickets within the field restrictions. In the very next over, post the powerplay, Sri Lanka Legends lost yet another wicket much to the disappointment of the fans.
The Tillakaratne Dilshan-led team batted with aggressive intent, and it may have backfired for the team. Despite Ishan Jayaratne’s fighting 51, Sri Lanka Legends fell short in the end. India Legends bowled out Sri Lanka Legends for just 162 runs and won the match by 33 runs and also the RSWS title.
Abhimanyu Mithun starred with the ball for India Legends with his economical spell, as he bagged a two-for to his name and helped India Legends to restrict the run flow of the opposition team in the middle overs.
