Ravindra Jadeja, after getting the green signal from the National Cricket Academy, will turn up for India for the first Test at Nagpur against Australia. The NCA issued a fitness report on his readiness, and now he can join the test squad at Nagpur where a short camp will be held before the start of the series.

Jadeja was last seen in the Asia Cup 2022 where he had a knee injury. The knee had to be surgically operated and so this meant Jadeja missed out on cricket for as many as five months. The left-hand batter has changed the dynamics of the Indian Test side with his batting and has been potent with his left-arm spin.

He would be one of the pivotal players for India in this four-match Test series against Australia. His last game in competitive cricket was for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy against Tamil Nadu. He went through the grind and bowled 41.1 overs of left-arm spin and took a seven-wicket haul in the second innings. This indicated that he was truly back on track.

The man from Saurashtra has played 60 Tests for India and has scored 2523 runs in white flannels for the national side. He has an average of 36.57 and a strike rate of 59.5. He has 17 half-centuries and three centuries to his name. His best score in Test cricket is 175. He has been lethal with the ball as well, picking up 242 wickets at an economy rate of 2.43.

Shreyas Iyer is to miss the first Test against Australia due to a back injury

For India, his inclusion to the side helps to lengthen the batting order and also provides a left-handed option with the bat in an Indian Test side which is primarily right-handed. His skills in the field are second to none and his comeback means that the Indian Test side has got stronger. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer will miss the first Test as he is recovering from a back injury which ruled him out of the series against New Zealand.
