Former Men in blue skipper, Virat Kohli has been having a horror run of form in all 3 formats. The talismanic batter had a lackluster series in England where in almost all of the innings in the England tour, Virat Kohli got in and looked good but failed to convert his starts into substantial scores.

This rut of not scoring runs has led Virat Kohli to take a break from cricket and come back fresh for the Asia Cup. But now, fresh reports have emerged that the selectors want him to cut short his break and return to play the series against Zimbabwe.

Virat Kohli is reportedly believed to be in Paris with his wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika. The 33-year-old batter is expected to come back in action for the Asia Cup which is slated to take place in August- September and is likely to take place in UAE instead of Sri Lanka.

The selectors of the Men in Blue want the former skipper to return for the Zimbabwe tour before the Asia Cup and the 20-20 World Cup to regain his form. India will play a three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe, starting on August 18th. The young side of the Men in Blue will be led by Shikar Dhawan.

“Hopefully, the break allows him to rejuvenate mentally and get his form back. But without any competitive cricket, it will be difficult and that is why we want him to play against Zimbabwe. It’s his preferred format and will help him regain his form before the Asia Cup. We will take a final decision close to the selection,” a selector told Inside Sport.

The Zimbabwe tour would help Virat Kohli to get some much-needed runs under his belt and also it will help him to slowly get back in form and be his phenomenal self again. The selectors are right in away but it remains to be seen whether Kohli will play the Zimbabwe tour or take an extended break.
