It was a wonderful day for the South African emerging prospect, Dewald Brevis, as he had a memorable for the Titans. He took a blinder of a catch in the second innings while fielding on a day when he also scored a superlative 162 off just 57 balls. This stunning moment happened in the game which involved the Titans and Knights in a CSA T20 challenge in Potchefstroom on October 31, Monday.

The ground-breaking effort from the 19-year-old took place in the seventh over when Jacques Snyman went for the big hit and he wanted to strike a six but his plans were foiled by this piece of brilliance from Brevis who first made sure that the ball does not go for a maximum and then put a dive outside the boundary rope to complete the catch.

Earlier the pocket rocket from South Africa put his name in the record books and got the highest score in domestic T20. He also put his name for the fastest domestic hundred. He got to the 50 off just 18 balls and the century came off just 35 balls. In what was blistering innings he went after the bowlers with aplomb and hit 13 fours and 13 sixes in his whirlwind knock.

I have mentored Dewald for two years now: Ab de Villiers

The knock left a lot of people amazed, including Ab de Villiers, who took to Twitter to congratulate the youngster and wrote, “Dewald Brevis. No need to say more.” This is not the first time that Brevis was complemented by AB. “I know Dewald very well. I have been his mentor for about two years now and helped him with his batting and his attitude towards cricket,” De Villiers told Network24.

“From young – and still now – I watch lots of videos even on Instagram about AB and all these guys, [as to] how they hit the ball,” Brevis was quoted as saying by MSN. “And I like AB’s natural bat swing. And back in your head, you get a visual of how the ball goes, how the bat falls and everything. So I try to watch as most as much as possible, and to just also be myself.”
