Vinicius Jr the Real Madrid forward has called Spain and LaLiga racist. This happened after he was subject to racial slurs from the stands. This happened after Madrid lost to Valencia. This happened at the Mestalla Stadium. Vinicius was quick to make note of the fans who were hurling a volley of words at him. When this fracas happened, the play was halted for ten minutes. The drama did not stop there.

Vinicius got into a heated scuffle with some of the Valencia players which led to him being sent off in the second half of the game. The events that unfolded meant that Vinicius was not a happy man.  LaLiga have taken stock of the situation. They have requested for all the available images from that particular incident in order to do a thorough investigation of the incident that unfolded. “If any hate crime is identified, we will take the appropriate legal action,” LaLiga said in a statement.

We tried to explain ourselves, but you did not show up: Javier Tebas on Vinicius Junior

Here is the translated version of Vinicius’s tweet:

“It was not the first time, nor the second, nor the third. Racism is normal in LaLiga. The competition considers it normal, the federation considers it normal and the rivals encourage it,” Vinicius said.

“A beautiful nation, which welcomed me and which I love, but which accepted to export to the world the image of a racist country. I am sorry for those Spaniards who disagree but today, in Brazil, Spain is known as a country of racists.”I am strong and I will go all the way against the racists. Even if it is far away from here,” The Real Madrid star added.

Javier Tebas the President of LaLiga asked Vinicius to be more informed about what can be done when an incident of racism surfaces and what are the grievance redressal mechanisms involved. “Since those who should explain to you what it is and what LaLiga can do in cases of racism, we have tried to explain it ourselves, but you have not shown up for either of the two agreed dates that you requested yourself,” The LaLiga President wrote on Twitter.
