Talking of the match, it was a total disaster for the Australia team as they got all out at just 141 in 31 overs. Opener, David Warner played an impressive inning of 94 off of 96 deliveries but none of the other batters could come up with a decent score as they failed to understand Zimbabwe bowlers. Glenn Maxwell was the second-best scorer with 19 runs. Apart from these two, none could even cross the double-digit mark.
Ryal Burl, the leg break bowler from Zimbabwe, came up as a thorn to Australia as he took a five-wicket haul and broke Australia’s back. The spinner bowled just three overs and gave away 15 runs, taking five wickets in the process. Chasing a small total of 141, the Zimbabwe batters struggled from time to time but somehow reached the target in 39 overs.
Captain Regis Chakabva remained not out on 37 and led his team across the finish line, clinching a historic victory against the Aussies. The two Zimbabwe batters Takudzwanashe Kaitano (19) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (35) combined to give a good start to the Zimbabwe side, earlier. Josh Hazlewood, with a three-wicket haul, tried his best but could not defend such a small total.
In the end, Zimbabwe won the match by three wickets and all cricket fans got to see the minnow team enjoying a win for a change. The series ended with a 2-1 win for Australia but Zimbabwe took many positives from the series as well.
