Watch: Yusuf Pathan’s fireworks in International League T20 Match between Dubai Capitals and Desert Vipers

The International League T20 has been an exhilarating affair so far as fans have got to see some mouth-watering encounters in the tournament. The Match no 20 of the competition between Dubai Capitals and Desert Vipers was no different as both teams played a thriller. All rounder Yusuf Pathan lit up the match with his scintillating innings of 35 off 26 balls.

Pathan walked into bat with Dubai Capitals reeling at 85/5 after 13.3 overs. They required another 65 runs for victory in 39 balls. Seeing his team in disarray, Pathan launched an onslaught and clobbered three fours and two sixes in his innings. However, despite his magnificent knock he couldn’t take his team past the finishing line.

Coming back to the match, Dubai Capitals captain Rovman Powell won the toss and elected to bowl first. Desert Vipers openers Rohan Mustafa and Alex Hales walked out to the middle to give their sides an electrifying start. However, they both returned to the pavilion inside the first three overs with just 20 runs on the board.

After the early blows, Vipers’ captain Colin Munro stitched a 65-run stand with his Sam Billings. Tom Curran and Sherfane Rutherford got starts but couldn’t take their innings forward. Munro was dismissed for a well-made 32-ball 40 as the Vipers could only manage to score 149/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowlers for the Capitals who picked up 3/16 in four overs. Jake Ball and Fred Klaasen also picked up two wickets each.

Rovman Powell and Yusuf Pathan’s heroics couldn’t take their team home

In reply, Dubai Capitals lost their openers Robin Uthappa and Hazratullah Zazai with just seven runs on the board inside the first three overs. They further lost three wickets more wickets to be reduced to 85/5 after 13.3 overs.

With 65 required from 39 balls, captain Rovman Powell and Yusuf Pathan added 52 runs for the sixth wicket. However, they couldn’t take their team home as they finished on 137/5 at the end of their allotted 20 overs. Roshan Mustafa was the pick of the bowlers for the Vipers who picked up 2/27 in four overs. Adam Zampa was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his three-wicket haul.
