Former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli was ecstatic after witnessing his partner Pujara reaching a ton on day 3 of the first Test against Bangladesh. Bangladesh were bundled out for 150 runs on day 3 but India didn’t enforce the follow-on and decided to bat, once again.

Shubman Gill, who was criticized for not converting the starts into big scores, notched his maiden ton for India. Along with him, Cheteshwar Pujara also notched a hundred after a gap of 1443 days.

He featured in a 113-run partnership with Shubman Gill for the second wicket. Gill got out after scoring 110 runs but Pujara stayed unbeaten. He reached his ton by smashing a four to Taijul Islam.

As Pujara brought up his century, the fans stood up on their feet to applaud the knock. India’s former Test captain, Virat Kohli, who was batting alongside him, raised both arms in the air and celebrated the ton as well.

Pujara enjoyed a sensational outing with the bat in the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh. He played an unbeaten knock of 102 runs in 130 balls, helping India set up a target of 513 runs for Bangladesh to win the Test match.

For the record, it was also his fastest-ever ton in Test Cricket as he reached the landmark in just 130 deliveries. Pujara also batted brilliantly during India’s first innings.

He took India out of trouble when they were in a tricky situation at 48 for 3 by stitching a 64-run partnership for the third wicket with Rishabh Pant.

The 34-year-old batter went on to play an outstanding knock of 90 runs in 203 balls but, unfortunately, missed out on a hundred by 10 runs. Overall, the Test veteran has scored 192 runs in the Chattogram Test.

Talking about the game, Bangladesh needed 471 runs to win the match with all 10 wickets in hands.
