Indian batters failed to put in fighting total

Bangladesh captain Litton Das won the toss and elected to bowl first in the opening match of a three-match ODI series against India on Sunday. The home side fielded a side without its regular captain Tamim Iqbal, also the highest scorer for the country in this format. Tamim was ruled out of the series due to a groin injury.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan walked out to the middle to give a blazing start to the team. However, the duo couldn’t continue for long as Shikhar Dhawan got bowled by Mehidy Hasan as India lost their first wicket on 23 after 5.1 overs.

Indians fans expected a better performance from the middle-order batters but everyone failed except KL Rahul who scored 73 runs off 70 balls including 5 fours and 4 sixes. However, Shreyas Iyer was looking good but eventually ended up throwing his wicket to a short-pitched delivery once again.

India dished out a below-par batting display to be bowled out for 186 in the opening ODI on Sunday. Sent into bat, Bangladesh bowlers were disciplined from the word as they picked up wickets at regular intervals to dismiss India in 41.2 overs. Left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan (5/36) was the star of Bangladesh bowling while Ebadat Hossain (4/47) also chipped in with a few wickets.
