During the TNPL (Tamil Nadu Premier League) match on Wednesday at the Salem Cricket Foundation Ground, Dindigul Dragons easily defeated iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans by eight wickets thanks to undefeated half-centuries courtesy Shivam Singh and Adithya Ganesh.

After the Dragons captain B. Indrajith made the decision to field first, the match began 55 minutes later because of a light rainstorm. Sai Kishore (45) as well as Vijay Shankar (43) both scored useful innings to help Tamizhans record 173 for five.  Sai Kishore, who came in at number three, provided the innings a much-needed lift by going after the spinners and plucking off sixes from Aushik Srinivas, Varun Chakravarthy, and Boopathi Vaishna Kumar after the openers got off to a slow start.

Before Sai was dismissed, Vijay Shankar and Sai, who both got off to a fast start, contributed 53 runs for the third wicket. Later, B. Anirudh as well as Vivek Raj each hammered a few sixes to provide the last gloss to the innings, but it was insufficient.

Opening pair Shivam and Adithya produced contrasting innings, but they worked well together to put up an unbroken 105-run third-wicket standoff in just 61 balls to help Dragons secure its fourth victory while chasing 174.

Run-out at the non-striker’s end

Alliraj Karuppuswamy tried something unorthodox as he tried to get the wicket of Shivam Singh who was batting magnificently. During the third ball of the seventh over, Alliraj tried to be cheeky and wanted to find the batter out of the crease while bowling the delivery. The bowler tried, but the batter was well inside the crease and the effort by the bowling side failed miserably.

With two wickets, R. Sai Kishore momentarily brought Tamizhans into the match, but Adithya Ganesh ended it with a powerful batting performance. Adithya then began to challenge the bowlers and succeeded in smashing Sai Kishore for a few boundaries in the following over. He appropriately ended the pursuit with two sixes, the first of which brought him to his half-century, off bowler P. Bhuvaneswaran beyond square leg.  In the end, the duo stayed till the end and got their side an important victory.
