The second ODI between India and New Zealand at Seddon Park in Hamilton has been called off to persistent rain. India batted 12.5 overs during the first innings and had scored 89 runs for the loss of Shikhar Dhawan’s wicket.
Fans expected India to make a comeback in the second ODI after losing the game and, thereby, level the series but persistent rain in Hamilton meant the game had to be called off. Suryakumar Yadav, once again, was on course to play a big knock on Sunday.
However, rain played spoilsport and we couldn’t witness another special knock from him. He had hit 2 fours and 3 sixes en route to a 25-ball 34 at a strike rate of 136 before the rain arrived and interrupted the proceedings.
Prior to the start of the game, Yadav could be seen involved in an intense conversation with one of the ground staff members. In a video, which has gone viral on social media, he could be seen asking questions to him. The duo was sitting in a car, using the supper sopper.
It would be safe to say that Suryakumar Yadav is, currently, India’s most consistent batter in the white-ball format. He has been in sensational form and is impressing the whole cricketing fraternity with his range of shots.
The 32-year-old batter, recently, struck his maiden ton in T20 internationals in the 2nd T20 against New Zealand. He reached the century in just 49 deliveries and went on to score an unbeaten knock of 191 runs on the board.
His ton helped the team notch a big score of 191 runs. India won that game by 65 runs and took the series 1-0. He had a sensational outing in the 20-20 World Cup, finishing the tournament as the third-highest leading run-getter.
In 6 matches, Yadav scored 239 runs at an average and a strike rate of 59.75 and 189.65 respectively.
