Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) battled it out for the first time in IPL 2023 in Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on Tuesday. It was an innings of two halves for DC. They got off to a good start but they lost wickets in the middle overs. Then Axar Patel and David Warner had a great partnership to get DC to 122 when they were 98-5 at one stage. Warner made a scratchy 51 off 47 balls with six fours.
Axar has improved leaps and bounds with his batting. The left-hander orchestrated a beautiful innings of 54 off 25 balls with four fours and five sixes. When Axar was going through his innings, in the fourth ball of the 16th over. Behrendorff bowled a length ball on the middle stump, Axar hit the ball towards long on, the shit was mistimed, and he expected the fielder to take the catch. But Suryakumar Yadav lost the ball due to the stadium lights.

The ball just hit above the right eye and the ball parries off his face and over the boundary for six. Suryakumar went back to the pavilion shortly after. He was being treated and Ramandeep Singh was brought on as a substitute fielder. Mumbai Indians came back with the ball in the death overs and prevented DC from reaching a big score of 180-185. Behrendorff picked up three wickets in the 19th over.

There was also a wonderful piece of fielding from Nehal Wadhdera to dismiss Kuldeep Yadav. The pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium was a very slow surface. But DC somehow managed to get to a total of semblance. These two sides have not had a great start to the 2023 edition of the IPL. MI have lost both their games so far and DC have lost all three of their games so far. So one of the franchises will win this game.
A win will help either of the sides to open their account on the points table. The Indian players on either side have not been favoured and so have the senior players from both sides as well. Both sides will look to win the game and break free.
