Netherlands has received special prayers ahead of their warmup games of the ODI World Cup 2023. In a video posted from the social media handle of Netherlands cricket, one of the players was seen respectfully listening to the hymns of an Indian, who was chanting it to wish good luck for the team of Netherlands ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 matches. The hymns are from Vedas of Indian texts.
The fans started sharing the video, which is going viral on the internet. Many are praising the moment, as it truly depicts the culture of India and the amazing behaviors of the guests. Netherlands have been in the news for their wonderful display as a guest of the country. The men in orange came early to India to get acclimatized to the Indian conditions ahead of the big tournament.
Netherlands practiced in Alur practice grounds in Bengaluru by hiring local talents as net bowlers. Netherlands played inter-squad practice matches to prepare for the World Cup. In the last few days, the Dutch have played a couple of practice games against Karnataka, the local domestic team of India. Unfortunately, Netherlands lost both the practice matches against Karnataka.
Unfavorable results in the practice matches against Karnataka
In the first practice match, Netherlands conceded 264 runs in 46 overs against Karnataka. Chasing the target, Netherlands did not seem to be in the game, as they lost it by a huge margin of 142 runs. In the second practice match, Netherlands scored 296 runs in 47.5 overs. Chasing the target, Karnataka clinched the match with a thrilling 1-wicket win. The loss of Netherlands was criticized by the fans.
Netherlands though, cannot be taken lightly by any team. in the 2022 T20 World Cup, the Dutch team knocked South Africa out of the tournament and threatened many teams to create upsets. The Dutch have the history of beating some strong teams like England and South Africa. After beating a strong team like the West indies in the World Cup qualifiers, Netherlands qualified for the ODI World Cup 2023.
