In a wave of nostalgia, the greats in Legends League Cricket turned the clock back, once again. This edition of the Legends League Cricket has reverted back to the old format where there are three teams namely the India Maharajah’s, Asia Lions and the World Giants.

Maharajahs is captained by Gambhir, while Lions are led by Shahid Afridi. The third team, World Giants will be skippered by Aaron Finch, who recently retired from cricket.

The first encounter of the 2023 edition was played between Maharajahs and the Lions. It was a close encounter between the two sides but Lions won the game, eventually, by 9 runs. Meanwhile, a touching moment took place between Gambhir and Afridi during the game.

Abdul Razaq was introduced in the 12th over in the second innings. Gambhir suffered a sharp blow on his elbow which went on to his helmet on the first ball of that over as he tried to play a shot behind the wicket. Afridi quickly went to Gambhir and enquired on how he was feeling.

The incident was shot on camera and it didn’t take a lot of time to get viral on social media.

Here’s a look at the video:

Misbah-ul- Haq scored 73 off 50 balls and helped Asia Lions win by 10 runs

Misbah-ul-Haq starred with the bat for Asia Giants, scoring a cracking 73 off 50 balls with two fours and four sixes. Upul Tharanga scored 40 off 29 balls, including two sixes. These contributions helped Lions get to 165-6 in their 20 overs. In reply, it was so near yet so far for Maharajas, who ended up on 156-8 in their 20 overs.

Gambhir was the only one for Maharajas who played a handy knock of 54 runs off 39 balls, including seven fours. The best bowler for the Lions was Sohail Tanvir, who picked up 3-27 in his four overs.
