Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi suggested that he was feeling fit and fine after he successfully recovered from a knee injury and now, he is all set to join the Pakistan squad in Brisbane on October 15, Saturday, said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Afridi went to England for his recovery and rehabilitation process for his injury which had left his participation in the upcoming 20-20 World Cup in doubt. He undertook the rehab program under the guidance of the medical advisory committee of the PCB which took place in London at the Crystal Palace Football club.

In a video, which was posted by the PCB, Afridi was seen doing the hard yards in London and was bowling with a full run-up in the nets. The pace spearhead for Pakistan also was seen batting in the nets and he looked in good shape while going through his practice drills.

Here is the video

“I am super excited at the prospects of rejoining the national side for the T20 World Cup and playing my part in our Australia campaign. It has been a difficult period for me to be miles away from the game and the team I love the most, and not be part of some grueling and exciting matches,” Afridi said, as quoted by a press release from PCB.

“I have been bowling six to eight overs trouble-free for the past 10 days with full run-up and pace. While I have enjoyed bowling and batting in the nets, nothing can replace the feel of the match environment and I can’t wait to be in that setting,” added the Pakistan pacer. Afridi said that he was raring to go and looking to bowl at full tilt in the upcoming 20-20 World Cup in Australia. He thanked the medical team of the PCB for their efforts in getting him back into shape. It is interesting to note that Afridi was named in the 15 for the 20-20 World Cup despite concerns over his fitness.
