Sarafaraz Khan burst on to the scene in the Indian T20 League when he played a superb knock against the Rajasthan team when he was playing for Bangalore in 2015. He was the youngest player with only 17 years and 177 days old, to play a match in the Indian T20 League, in the very next season, he was the only uncapped player to be retained by a franchise in the Indian T20 League.

He made his Indian T20 League debut in a game against Chennai where he scored only 11 runs off 7 balls and could not get a consistent run in the side because of the presence of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and Ab De Villiers. He proved what he was made of when he scored 45 from just 21 balls against the Rajasthan side.

His innings included six fours and a six which helped Bangalore to get to a good total. What made the innings more special was Virat Kohli greeting Sarfaraz Khan with salutations after his innings was completed.

Since then, in the Indian T20 League he has been in and out of sides and has not had a consistent run in the tournament. Sarfraz Khan was last brought by the Punjab side, but he did not provide the best of returns for them.

When it comes to domestic cricket, he has scored 2790 runs at an average of 79.71 and at a strike rate of 69.55 with a triple century being his highest score. Sarfaraz started his Ranji career with Mumbai when he played against Bengal in 2014. He started playing for Uttar Pradesh from the 2015–2016 season.

By September 2019, he had played 11 first-class matches and has scored 535 runs with the highest score of 155. He had also played 12 list A matches and had scored 257 runs at a strike rate of 96.25. In January 2020, in the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh, Sarfaraz scored his maiden triple century in first-class cricket.

Recently in the Irani Cup game against Saurashtra, he scored a big hundred for the Rest of India side and has shown that he has got the goods to do well in higher level cricket. His strong first-class record proves it. He celebrated it with a thigh slap once again.
