Watch: Rovman Powell’s jaw dropping 109-metre-six against Zimbabwe in 20-20 World Cup
The 20-20 World Cup 2022 has surpassed the expectations of fans in the first three days itself as it has enthralled them with one iconic moment after another. The trend continued on the fourth day as well as West Indies took on Zimbabwe in the eighth match of the tournament. During the match West Indies batter Rovman Powell smashed a gigantic six which left the crowd amazed.
The incident took place in the 19th over of the first innings bowled by Blessing Muzarabani. The right-arm seamer ran in to bowl the third ball of the over which was pitched short and aimed towards the batter’s rib cage. Powell, however, was ready for the short delivery as he quickly got into position and sent the ball soaring into the night sky and out of Bellerive Oval.
Following the massive six, non-striker Akeal Hosein was seen keeping his hands on his helmet in disbelief. Powell sent the ball a whopping 109-metres away with his breathtaking strike.

Coming back to the match, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost the opener, Kyle Mayers, early in the innings. After losing his partner early, Johnson Charles played a brilliant knock of 45 off 36 balls. Powell walked to the crease with West Indies at 90/3 after 12.2 overs. He ended up scoring 28 off 21 balls to guide his team to 153/7 after the end of 20 overs.
He was well supported by Akeal Hossein who also scored 23 off 18 balls smashing two fours in his innings. For Zimbabwe, Sikandar Raza was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped three wickets for 19 runs in four overs. Blessing Muzarabani also picked up two wickets giving away 38 runs in four overs.
Zimbabwe got off to a decent start in their chase as the openers Wesley Madhevere and Regis Chakabva added 29 runs in just 2.2 overs for the first wicket. However, they dramatically collapsed and lost five wickets for the next 35 runs. Zimbabwe require another 76 runs to win in 60 balls.
