India and England squared off against each other in the 2nd ODI of the three-match series which was held at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. After winning the toss, India opted to bowl first and their bowlers did well to keep England to a low score of 246. Yuzvendra Chahal finished his spell with four wickets, while other bowlers played a supporting role.

During England’s innings, India skipper Rohit Sharma suffered an injury scare as he dislocated his elbow while he was fielding at covers during the game. The opening batsman quickly put it back in place and avoided getting injured.

Rohit’s actions were observed very keenly by commentator Sanjay Manjrekar who quickly disclosed to the viewers that the cricketer had dislocated his elbow when. Rohit averted the injury scare and batted for India when they went in pursuit of the target all though they were not able to win the match.

Rohit has missed many matches in his career due to injuries. Since Rohit assumed captaincy duties, he has been in and out of the side due to recurring injuries. Rohit Sharma also recently missed the one-off Test match against England due to COVID-19 infection.

Stars in attendance at Lord’s

The ODI at Lords had many former players in attendance who had come to watch the game. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar were seen chatting in the stands during the game. The former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd was also spotted in the stands during the game. A few minutes later, Suresh Raina took to Twitter to share a pic with MS Dhoni. Raina was seen sitting with Harbhajan Singh during England’s innings.

Talking about the game, England mounted a resilient comeback at Lords on a day when the Indian batters failed to chase the target. Left-arm fast bowler Reece Topley was the wrecker in chief as he recorded figures of 6 for 24, which turned out to be a player of the match performance for England. The two sides will now play the all-important series decider on July 17 in Manchester.
