Ravindra Jadeja has been arguably one of the best all-rounders in red-ball cricket for quite a while now. He was part of the U-19 World cup winning team in 2008 under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Jadeja burst onto the scene primarily as a left-arm spinner. Ever since he made his Test Debut in 2012, he worked on his batting and became one of the most valuable players of Indian cricket across formats. Jadeja has remarkably improved his batting in the past few years and is regularly scoring crucial runs down the order for the team.

The fifth Test between India and England once again saw Jadeja bringing his ‘A game’ to the table as he stitched a mammoth 222-run partnership with Rishabh Pant for the 6th wicket and took India out of a precarious situation who were reeling at 98-5. Jadeja brought up his half-century and did his famous sword celebration in front of the English skipper Ben Stokes.

Adding to his Day 1 score, Jadeja finally managed to bring up his 100 which was his career’s 3rd hundred overall. Jadeja came close to scoring a hundred in England before as well during the 5th Test of the 2018 England tour at the Oval. But the star all-rounder was left stranded on an unbeaten 86 as he ran out of partners.

Jadeja was finally dismissed for 104 after trying to add some quick runs to India’s total. India have been dismissed for 416 in their first innings and have also picked up a wicket of Alex Lees before the rain came pouring down and the Umpires took an early lunch. England are 16/1 after the end of the first session on Day 2.

Jadeja recently scored a mammoth 175 not out against Sri Lanka earlier this year in March and also picked up 9 wickets in the game becoming only the sixth cricketer in the history of the game to score a hundred and pick up a 5-wicket haul. He also missed the ‘world record’ of scoring a 150 and picking up a ten-wicket haul in a Test as he ended up with 9 wickets in the match. Jadeja’s recent performances have seen him rise to the top of the Test All rounders’ rankings.
