Ishan Kishan wrote himself into the history books as he became the fourth Indian to notch up a double hundred in ODIs. He joined Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma and Virender Sehwag in an illustrious club. He became the youngest man and also the fastest to hit a double hundred in Men’s cricket history. He hit 24 fours and 10 sixes enroute to his knock.

Kishan reached the double century off 126 balls and eclipsed Chris Gayle’s record in the 2015 World Cup where he had hit the double ton vs New Zealand in just 138 balls. He literally took the sword to the Bangladesh bowlers as they did not know what hit them. Every shot was going where it wanted, and it was a superb display of hitting. Kishan roared and took his helmet off and the dugout also was very happy for his monumental effort.

Ishan Kishan smashed the highest score by a cricketer in Bangladesh

Rahul Dravid and KL Rahul were jumping in joy as soon as Kishan reached the historical milestone. Virat Kohli also did some Bhangra moves before hugging his partner for what he had done.  His total was the highest score by a cricketer in Bangladesh. He surpassed Shane Watson’s record which was the previous highest score. The previous best by an Indian was Virender Sehwag who scored 175 against Bangladesh in Mirpur.

Kishan has been in and out of the Indian side and in a short ODI career so far, he has scored 477 runs in 10 matches. He has got the runs at an average of 53 and at a strike rate of 11.97 with three fifties and a hundred in ODIs so far. The way things have transpired for Kishan in the Bangladesh series, it looks like he is preferred as a keeper ahead of Rishabh Pant.

The message from the management may be that if he is in the ODI side then he can be used as a keeper and also as a n opening batter. If needed he can also be used in the middle order, his keeping is a big plus and also he is a left-handed batter which can help with the right left-hand combination.
