He has three centuries and two fifties to his name and is the leading run-scorer in the tournament. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Ravindra smashed a quickfire 42 to help the Kiwis win by a huge margin, thus putting the team in a great position to qualify. In some ways, life has come a full circle for the young man as his father hails from the ‘garden city’ and even played club cricket in the city before relocating to New Zealand in 1997. In another game at the same venue, Ravindra scored a century against Pakistan which makes for such a terrific story.

Following the game against Sri Lanka, Ravindra went to see his grandmother in Bengaluru. A video of him and his grandmother performing a religious ceremony to ward off the evil eye has become very popular online, making him more loved by his supporters around the world. The video has been widely shared on social media, with fans praising Ravindra for his respect for Indian culture.
Ravindra and his fans will hope that the ritual helps him perform consistently at the international level for a long period just as he is expected to by fans and pundits alike.
