The 12th match of the SA20 took place between MI Cape Town and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The toss was won by Eastern Cape, and they elected to bowl first. Dewald Brevis fell early to Sisanda Magala. His opening partner at the other end, Ryan Rickelton struck in and made 46 off 36 balls with four fours and one six. He was dismissed by Ottiniel Baartman.
Grant Roelofsen came in at no 3 and gave impetus to the Cape Town innings by scoring 56 off 36 balls with seven fours and two sixes. When the wicketkeeper batter was dismissed, there was a mini collapse as van der Dussen and Sam Curran fell, soon after. Delano Potgieter smashed 21 off 13 balls with one four and two sixes along with Odean Smith, who hit 25 off 13 balls with three fours and one six. This took Cape Town to 171-6 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Eastern Cape did not get off to a good start as wicketkeeper batter Adam Rossington and JJ Smuts fell early and Eastern Cape were soon reeling at 57-4. Tristan Stubbs came in at 5 and made 28 off 21 balls with three sixes.
At 101-6, it seemed dead and buried for Eastern Cape but they won a thriller by two wickets, in the end, thanks to a splendid knock by Marco Jansen who made 66 off 27 balls with three fours and seven sixes.
In the course of Jansen’s game-changing knock, a funny incident happened. Marco Jansen hit a pull shot to the mid-wicket fence where Pakistan presenter Zainab Abbas was stationed. She fell at the boundary rope after one of the Cape Town fielders who was trying to save the boundary bumped into her. It was an oops moment and she was in good spirits even after she had a bad fall after the incident happened. Eastern Cape won the game by two wickets.

Jansen with his hitting took the score from 101-6 to 168-8. Jansen has proved his credentials as an all-rounder in the Test Series against Australia where he had scored a stroke filled fifty in one of the Test matches.
