Watch: Nic Maddinson’s monstrous 101-metre six during Match 7 of the Big Bash League 2022-23

The enthralling cricket continued in the Big Bash League 2022-23 as Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades locked horns in the seventh match of the season. Thunder captain Jason Sangha won the toss and opted to bat first as they posted 174/6 in the first innings. During the second innings of the match, captain Nic Maddinson smashed a 101-meter six against Chris Green.

The incident took place on the second ball of the eighth over bowled by Green. Maddinson played a slog sweep over deep square leg and sent the ball way back into the stands.

Coming back to the match, Thunder lost their openers cheaply as they were reduced to 23/2 after 4.4 overs. Thunder further lost two more wickets and were reeling at 57/4 in 9.1 overs. Seeing their team in trouble, Rilee Rossouw and Alex Ross got together at the crease and stitched a 55-run partnership between the two.

Rossouw scored a brilliant 53 off 38 balls smashing three fours and four sixes. His innings was ended by Tom Rogers as Thunder lost their fifth wicket on the score of 112. Alex Ross further added some crucial runs for the sixth wicket with Olivier Davies.

The duo added 32 runs together as Ross scored a crucial 39 off 23 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes. After Ross’ dismissal, Davies continued his innings and scored important runs at the death as he remained unbeaten on 33 off 18.

Aaron Finch guides Renegades to victory

His innings was studded with four fours and a six. Chris Green also played a brilliant cameo of 10 runs off 5 balls to take Thunder to 174/6 after the end of their allotted 20 overs. Tom Rogers was the pick of the bowlers for Melbourne who picked up 2/41 in four overs.

Renegades lost their opener, Sam Harper, for a duck in the very first over of the chase. Nic Maddinson steadied the innings with his knock of 39 off 28 balls. Aaron finch played a magnificent knock of unbeaten 70 off 43 to take the Renegades home with one ball to spare. Daniel Sams was the pick of the bowlers for Thunder who picked up 3/33 in four overs while Gurinder Sandhu picked up 2/51 in 3.5 overs.
