Watch: Nerve-wracking drama unfolds in T20 Blast final, team celebrates before completion of the game
The final of the English domestic 20-20 competition was a thriller and went down to the last ball. It made the spectators enjoy a cracker of a match. However, the game also witnessed another bizarre incident that took place of the last ball before Hampshire Hawks beat Lancashire Lightning by one run, which brought the English domestic T20 competition to a close.
The Hampshire players thought they had claimed the title. The stumps were taken out and the fireworks boomed to signal their victory but everything came to a grinding halt when the umpire signalled the ball as a no-ball.

Australian quick Nathan Ellis bowled to Richard Gleeson, the recent England T20I debutant. the Hampshire players erupted in wild celebrations because they had thought that they had claimed the silverware as the batter was dismissed. However, the umpire went on to signal a no-ball. This left Lancashire with a free hit with just three needed to win. Besides, a tie was enough for them to triumph courtesy of a higher powerplay total.
Nathan Ellis bowled a very good delivery that succeeded the no-ball as Gleeson swung at the free hit delivery before he ran through for only a single. This did not have much impact or bearing on the result as Hampshire were crowned champions and this was their third title in total which went on to equal Leicestershire’s record for the most domestic T20 titles in England.
When Hampshire batted first, England wrist-spinner Matt Parkinson claimed 4/26 having been released from national duty to feature at the Final game. Ben McDermott’s 62 off 36 balls proved more significant as Hampshire got to 152 for eight.
Lancashire looked to be in control on 72 for one in the eighth over but spin twins Liam Dawson (2/23) and Mason Crane (1/19) stifled the run rate. For Lancashire, Keaton Jennings (24), Steven Croft (36), Dane Vilas (23)and Luke Wells (27) got the starts but they failed to take cross the line and as a result, lost the final.
