In a pivotal IPL 2023 match, Mumbai Indians (MI) squared off against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Chennai on Wednesday. MI won the toss and elected to bat first. LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq did his utmost to eliminate MI captain Rohit Sharma. After taking Rohit’s wicket, Naveen used a special celebration to disperse the Virat Kohli-chanting crowd at MA Chidambaram.
Not only did he succeed in getting Rohit Sharma out but also got two more key dismissals, as he got rid of Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav in the same over. The right-arm pacer utilised the bowling conditions to his maximum advantage and varied his pace to trick the hitters. Chants of “Kohli, Kohli ” followed Naveen during the Lucknow Super Giants vs. Mumbai Indians IPL 2023 Eliminator at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium.
Mumbai Indians picked up the great form at the right time as all their players stepped in their impressive victory over the Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator. Their bowling which had been a big question mark throughout the season proved their credentials as they were able to take 8 wickets for just 32 runs after a decent start to the chase by the Lucknow side. In the end, Mumbai Indians won the game by 81 runs and eliminated the Lucknow Super Giants from the competition.

It should be emphasised that what happened is not the first occasion that the Indian mob has harassed Naveen. Wherever LSG has played since then, they have consistently been harassed with “Kohli, Kohli” shouts. Previously, during their most recent game against KKR at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Naveen was observed quieting the fans. The incident occurred in the final group stage game between LSG and KKR, which the former team narrowly defeated.
Following the altercation between Naveen ul-Haq and former Indian team skipper Virat Kohli during their game earlier this month at the Ekana Sports Stadium, the crowd has been relentless in support of Virat Kohli. Whenever Naveen was seen on the boundary line or going to bowl his over, the crowd did not show any mercy and started chanting the name of the Indian batting maestro, Virat Kohli.
