The warm-up match between Pakistan and England kicked off at the Gabba in Brisbane. England won the toss and chose to bowl. In a game that was reduced to 19 overs due to rain, Pakistan were provided a good start with Shan Masood scoring 39 off 22 balls with seven fours and Haider Ali getting a quick 18 off 16 balls with three fours.

The rest of the Pakistan batters got starts but could get a big score. Iftikhar Ahmed got 22 off 18 balls with three fours. When Mohammad Nawaz was dismissed at 124-6, Pakistan were in tatters. But the unlikely hero for the Men in Green turned out to be Mohammad Wasim Jr who scored a vital 26 off 16 balls with three fours and a six.

This innings allowed Pakistan to get to 160-8 in their 19 overs. David Willey was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 2 wickets for 22 runs in his two overs. Sam Curran also scalped one as he conceded only 14 runs from his 2 overs. In the second innings, England were rocked early as Naseem Shah bowled a jaffa to Phil Salt. The ball was full and straight and targeted at the stumps and Phil Salt was looked to go through the off-side, he was beaten for pace and the stumps were castled.

After Phil Salt was shown the door, he was followed quickly by Alex Hales, who fell to Shadab Khan for just 9 runs. Ben Stokes threatened to take the bowling on as he scored 36 from 18 balls with two fours and three sixes but he was dismissed by Mohammad Wasim Jr. Liam Livingstone and Harry Brook are at the crease unbeaten on 22 with one four and one maximum and 25 from 13 balls with three sixes. At the time of writing, the score is 103-3.

Pakistan and England recently clashed in a seven- match T20I series in Pakistan after 17 years which was a hard-fought series. In the end, England won the series 3-2 under the captaincy of Moeen Ali who was back at the country of his birth to play the series.
