There was a heated moment between Mohammad Rizwan and Marco Jansen during the match between Pakistan and South Africa in the ODI World Cup 2023. After having a good start to the match, South Africa was all over the batters of Pakistan. Marco was having a good spell with the new ball. Even without a swing, Jansen threatened the batters of Pakistan.
The left-arm pacer was fiery from his end and conceded nearly no run in his initial spell of 3 overs. In the process, Jansen got the wickets of the two openers as well. Jansen bowled a good bouncer and forced Abdullah Shafique to attempt a pull shot. Shafique’s timing was not so good, as the ball went straight to the fielder stationed in the fine leg region.
South Africa made a very good plan to dismiss Imam-Ul-Haq. Jansen got the third man fine and bowled a slower one. Imam tried to cut the ball and hit the ball straight to the fielder inside the circle. The plan worked perfectly, as Jansen got rid of Imam. It led to a shift in momentum. South Africa seemed to run away with the game. That was when Rizwan entered the middle.

Rizwan and Jansen have exchange of words twice in the same over
Right from the start, Rizwan tried to attack Jansen to unsettle his lengths. Hence, Rizwan attempted some aggressive strokes against Jansen. It did not go well with the pacer. He went straight to Mohammad Rizwan and had some words with him. In return, Jansen received an exchange of words from Rizwan. An outside edge of Rizwan’s shot escaped the third man fielder for a boundary, which further irked Jansen.
The following ball, Jansen got the ball on a good length. Rizwan was happy to let to carry to the wicketkeeper. Jansen got something to say about that as well. In reply, Rizwan smiled and pointed at the logo of his jersey. Gerald Coetzee from South Africa and Babar Azam from Pakistan interfered in the middle to stop further exchange of words between the two players.
