Virat Kohli played the innings of his life against Pakistan in the 20-20 World Cup fixture on Sunday. The star batter played a scintillating innings of 82 off 53 balls to guide India to an improbable win over the arch-rivals. After the match ended, the cricketing fraternity was in awe of Kohli’s ability to perform under immense pressure. Former Pakistan bowler Mohammad Amir was also full of praise for the star batter and hailed him as the best batter of the current era.

Amir said that Kohli’s ability to handle pressure is unprecedented and there’s no comparison to his ability in international cricket.

“I’ve said it before in numerous interviews as well. Why do I say that Virat is my favourite batter? He’s the best batter of this era, there’s no comparison. Because I’ve bowled to him, the kind of temperament and mindset he has towards the game, his work ethic and his ability to handle the pressure is unmatched. There’s no other batter in the world who can handle such immense pressure out there in the middle,” Mohammad Amir said in a conversation with ICA sports.

“People compare him with other batters of the modern era there’s no comparison of him. Yes, it was his one of the best T20I innings and he even said that. Out of nowhere, he took the game away from Pakistan’s grasp. It’s a sign of a great player. People were saying that he’s not in form, great players always chip in under pressure. What Virat did against Pakistan could only be done by him,” Amir added.

Kohli’s incredible knock took India to a historic victory

Kohli guided India to a miraculous win after the game was seen slipping away from their grasp as they needed 28 off 8 balls. Kohli unfurled one of the greatest shots ever seen in the history of the game to smash Haris Rauf back over his head for a massive six down the ground. He further hit one more six on the next ball to bring the equation down to 16 off 6.

He smashed another six against Mohammad Nawaz on the third ball of the final over. There was more drama on the final three balls as a no-ball followed by a confusing free-hit brought the crowd to the edge of their seats. India finally reached home on the final ball of the match as Ravichandran Ashwin scored the winning runs for his team.
