A weird incident occurred in the Lords Test featuring England and Australia. The sharp camera’s caught Marnus Labuschagne indulging in a rather crazy feat. He dropped a piece of chewing gum from his mouth in between overs and then picked up the dropped piece of gum that was on the pitch and popped it back in. There was a lot of reactions to this on social media. It happened at the 43rd over of the Australian innings.

Labuschagne was just setting his cricket gear in order. And the incident took place. Strange as it were, Labuschagne was seen unfazed after it all took place. On social media, Labuschagne copped the brunt for what some turned as a crazy act. On the other hand, some excused his shenanigans and said he was well within the five second rule.  it is a rule that has helped save quite a lot of food from being thrown away around the world, based on the simple logic that that 5 seconds too short a time frame for it to be spoiled by dirt, bacteria, or something on those lines.

Australia won the first Test at Edgbaston by 2 wickets

Labuschagne has not had the best of times in the Ashes series so far. The right-hander made a duck and 13 off 15 balls with three fours at Edgbaston. In the first innings at Lords, it was slightly better for him as he struck a well-made 47 off 93 balls with seven fours. He was not happy with the way his batting went on at Edgbaston and said he would have liked to contribute better in the first Test.

The Ashes has been a great series to look forward to as the first Test between the Kangaroos and the Three Lions went on for full five days and was worth the entertainment. Australia overcame England and won the match by 2 wickets. Australia are leading 1-0 in the 5-match series and England have been dismissed for 325 after Australia made 416 in the first innings. The Three Lions lost their last six wickets for just 47 runs at Lords after they were 278-4 on Day 2.
