Meanwhile, in the game, India won the toss and chose to bat first at the Sydney Cricket Ground. KL Rahul’s batting struggles continued as he could not find his rhythm against a mediocre bowling attack. The inswinging delivery of Paul van Meekeren caught him LBW.

Rohit Sharam, the team captain and Rahul’s opening partner, struggled throughout his innings but still managed a half-century. He hit four boundaries and three sixes to score 53 runs in 39 balls. Fred Klaassen dismissed him in the 12th over for a team score of 84.

Suryakumar Yadav then joined Virat Kohli in the centre, illuminating the stadium. With another half-century in the tournament, the former Indian captain improved on his previous performance. Yadav also contributed significantly to India’s impressive total.

The latter hit a six on the final ball of the innings, contributing to India’s 179-run total and completing his half-century. Both players went unbeaten, scoring 62 runs in 44 balls and 51 runs in 25 balls. The bowlers were outstanding in defence. They continued to take regular wickets, limiting the Dutch to a score of 123/9 and winning the match by 56 runs.

With this spectacular win, the Men in Blue moved to the top of the table in Group 2. The team led by Rohit Sharma previously won the match against arch-rivals Pakistan in a nail-biting thriller at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. India will play its next game against South Africa on the 30th of October at the Perth Stadium.
