Watch: KL Rahul’s indecision costs him silly dismissal against Netherlands

The 20-20 World Cup match between India and the Netherlands is currently underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The Men in Blue won the toss and opted to bat first. However, they lost their star opener, KL Rahul, cheaply.
Rahul’s batting woes continued as he struggled to get going against not the best bowling attack. He lost his wicket to Paul van Meekeren’s inswinging delivery, LBW. Umpire Ahsan Raza took his time but raised his finger to rule him out. Rahul consulted with Rohit and decided against the review, despite his captain’s suggestion that it might go down the leg stump.
As it turned out, the ball did indeed miss the leg stump, and the Indian captain was correct. KL Rahul could only add nine runs to the scoreboard in the 12 deliveries that he played. Had he agreed to take the DRS, he could have played well and ended his run drought.
In the meantime, the team captain and Rahul’s opening partner, Rohit Sharam, struggled throughout his innings but managed a half-century. He scored 53 runs in 39 balls, with four boundaries and three hits over the boundary rope. He was dismissed by Fred Klaassen in the 12th over for a team score of 84.
Suryakumar Yadav then joined Virat Kohli in the middle, and the two lit the stage on fire. The former Indian skipper continued his form from the previous match to score yet another half-century in the tournament. Yadav also put on a brilliant show to help India get to a good total.
The 360-degree player hit a six on the final ball of the innings to help India score 179 runs. In the end, both players stayed unbeaten on 62 in 44 balls and 51 in 25 balls, respectively. The team led by Rohit Sharma will look to assert dominance with the ball as well in order to win the match and earn two points. They previously won a match against Pakistan at the MCG.
