Prior to the start of the South Africa series, KL Rahul was ruled out of the home series due to an injury. He was expected to lead the team for the first time on home soil and make his international captaincy debut in the shortest format. KL Rahul then had to miss the all-format series against England in England as well.

The Indian opener has now recovered completely and has been picked in the team for the five-match T20 International series against the West Indies. His availability, though, is still subject to fitness. With the 20-20 World Cup in 2022 fast approaching, the Men in Blue will hope that he can return to full form and play in all formats soon.

KL Rahul’s rehabilitation process has begun after undergoing successful surgery for a Sports Hernia in Germany. He has begun batting practice to return to the Indian team as soon as possible.

The 31-year-old, who is regarded as one of India’s best batsmen across all three forms, and has scored a century in all 3 formats, is presently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

A video of Rahul batting in the nets went viral on social media a few days ago, bringing joy to the cricket fans in India.

On Monday, 18th of July, Indian women’s cricket team stalwart, Jhulan Goswami, was seen bowling Rahul in the nets and the video went viral on the internet. The historic confrontation in the nets was a battle to relish and it was memorable for the cricket fans of the Men in Blue.

Speaking about his numbers, Kl Rahul has scored 1634 runs in ODI’s at an average of 46.68 and at a strike rate of 88.61. He has scored 1831 runs in T20I’s at an average of 40.68 and a strike rate of 142.49. He has got the highest score of 110 not out in T20 internationals and a score of 112, which is his highest in ODIs.
