It is time to add another chapter to the mother of all cricket rivalries. Yes, the much-awaited moment when India locks horns with Pakistan is just two days away. The Asian Giants are scheduled to collide on the second match day of the Asia Cup 2022 on August 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Just ahead of the high-profile clash on Sunday, both teams unveiled their new Asia Cup Kits. The Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was the first person to sport the new Cricket Kit for the multi-nation tournament. The Men in Blue, led by Rohit Sharma, are presently shooting for the broadcaster in their brand new kits.
The Indian Cricket Board on their official Twitter handle shared the video where the Indian Players were seen shooting in new kits. Amidst all the buzz surrounding the huge India-Pakistan clash, the Indian players seemed to enjoy their time at the photo shoot. The video also displayed Rohit playing foosball with Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav.
Meanwhile, the Babar Azam-led squad also unveiled their new jerseys for the Asia Cup 2022.
The last time the two arch-rivals faced each other was in the last year’s T20 World Cup. The Babar-led side stood tall on that occasion as they thumped India by 10 wickets. It was, in fact, Pakistan’s first-ever win over India in a World Cup fixture.
However, India had an edge over the Men in Green in the Asian tournament. The Men in Blue have won eight of the 14 matches played against Pakistan. Also, in their last six battles in the Asia Cup, India has been defeated just once.
India and Pakistan are placed in Group A along with Hong Kong. The second group consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. The Rohit-led side is the defending champions coming into the tournament. India is also the most successful team in the Asia Cup with seven titles to their name.
The Asia Cup 2022 is scheduled to be played from August 27 to September 11 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tournament will kick off with the hosts Sri Lanka taking on Afghanistan in Dubai.
