Pakistan got to a disappointing start in the 20-20 World Cup as they lost to arch-rivals India by the rarest of margins. While a loss in India- Pakistan game is also disheartening, Pakistan’s second match loss was even more so.

In the second they lost to Zimbabwe; a team considered to be one of the weaker teams in the tournament. What followed was a meltdown by the fans, ex-players and board officials alike. So far many have criticised the Pakistan team’s performance in the Pakistan- Zimbabwe game that resulted in a Pakistan loss at the very last ball.

Former Pakistan players like Shoaib Akhtar, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and many others have spoken about player performance, team selection and other variables that affected the game and influenced their loss. The whole of the cricketing fraternity tries to unearth the reason for their sub-par performance just after reaching the final of the Asia Cup 2022 and getting off after a tri-series win in New Zealand. While questions of all kinds continue to be asked of the Pakistan team, one that has stumped even the Pakistan great Wasim Akram has nothing to do with cricket. In a cricket-based show called “Ask the pavilion” when a caller called in and said, “Why Rizwan keeps wearing the lip balm when not even a single player from any other country is wearing it?” Akram was visibly annoyed.

Here’s the video:

The former pace bowler dismissed the question saying it had nothing to do with cricket.

“This is just a random question. Cricket ki isme baat kya hai. Inne velle baithe ho saare (It is not even about cricket, don’t you guys have something nice to do). I can’t answer this crap,” said Akram in the Ask the Pavillion show.

Pakistan are currently languishing at fifth in Group 2 after losing back-to-back matches. They would not only have to win all of their remaining games but also hope for other results to go in their favour. Pakistan play the Netherlands next in their Super 12 match in the 20-20 World Cup.
