Watch: David Warner hilariously sledges Glenn Maxwell during BBL game, Maxwell’s response is absolute gold
Glenn Maxwell has been doing commentary in the Big Bash League. He was on commentary in the match between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades. He was doing commentary stints in the league after being ruled out of the tournament having suffered a broken leg in November last year. The swashbuckling batter is on his way to getting back to prime fitness and could be playing in the Indian T20 League 2023.
David Warner had been contracted by the Sydney Thunder to play a few games in the BBL. During Thursday’s match between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades. Warner was fielding and was mic’d up and he was engaged in a conversation with the broadcasters when he decided to take a dig at Maxwell.

“Is Maxi going to ring up Andrew McDonald and ask for a break after this commentary stint? He has been there a while and he is crosscoding as well. It’s one of these things we laugh about but Maxi, you’re doing a great job mate,” Warner said. “It’s good to see Davey giving back. Doing this for the love of the game isn’t he?” Maxwell retorted.

Warner has taken a dig at Maxwell in the past as well. He had trolled him after Maxwell had commanded the big bucks at the Indian T20 League auction in 2021. Maxwell represented the Bangalore franchise that year and he was bought by the team for 14.25 crore at the auction. He scored 513 runs in that Indian T20 League edition at an average of 42.75. He picked up three wickets with the ball as well. He took the Bangalore franchise to a playoffs spot in 2021. “It’s surprising, you get let go from your franchise and you get a lot more after being released,” Warner had said.
The two Australian players are going to be vital linchpins of their Indian T20 League franchises this year as Delhi in the absence of Rishabh Pant are without a captaincy candidate. This means that Warner will have to take more responsibility this season. Maxwell is a vital part of the Bangalore unit with his all-round skills with bat and ball.
