WATCH- David Warner gets a standing ovation from SCG crowd after being dismissed on Day 2 of Farewell Test
Stumps has been called on Day 2 of the Australia-Pakistan Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground with Australia’s score being 116 for 2, trailing Pakistan by 197 runs. Only 46 overs of play were possible today as bad light and rain interrupted the game on several counts. Having started the day with 6 runs on the board, the Aussies managed to add 110 runs, losing two wickets along the way. David Warner and Usman Khawaja got starts before being dismissed against the run of play. Currently, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith are at the crease with the former playing on 23 while the latter is on 6.
Fans, players and pandits will hope that tomorrow’s day is much better in terms of light and weather so that more pay is possible. Australia will be desperate for a good partnership between Labuschagne and Smith scene as they look to complete a whitewash. The two individuals will themselves be eager to kick in and get big scores after having endured a poor run by their standards in 2023.
Pakistan on the other hand, will be looking to bowl the hosts out quickly as they try to achieve that elusive win on Australian soil. They will need to pick up wickets regularly as Australia’s bowlers are also extremely capable with the bat.
SCG applauds homeboy
As we all know, the current game is David Warner‘s final game in Test Match Cricket. Warner, who has played 112 test matches for Australia will hang his boots from not only Tests but also ODIs after this game.

In what was most probably his penultimate Test innings, David Warner was dismissed in the 25th over by Agha Salman for 34. He edged a length delivery bowled by Salman to the first slip where Babar Azam took the catch. He was not happy with his judgement and was seen hurling expletives at himself as he walked off the ground. The crowd acknowledged his remarkable career and gave him a standing ovation which Warner duly acknowledged by raising his hand.
Now that he has just one innings left in the game, he will look to make the most of it and get a big score for the team and the crowd. However, regardless of whether that happens or not, Warner will go down as one of the greatest players to have represented Australia and is a true legend of the game.
