WATCH: Billy Root takes scorcher to dismiss Ben Charlesworth against Gloucestershire in T20 blast
The T20 Blast is taking place in England and it has been a great tournament so far. The games have been high octane and evenly contested which have given the fans their money’s worth in the competition. Glamorgan and Glousterchire played out a game at Cardiff in the South Group. Glousterchire won the toss and chose to bowl. They did not get off to a great start as the lost their openers for 18 runs on the board.
Then Billy Root and Sam Northeast strung together a partnership to get Glamorgan back on track. Root made 36 off 24 balls with five fours and one six. Northeast held the Glamoragan innings together and scored an unbeaten 60 off 48 balls with two fours and three sixes. as they finished on 183-5 in their 20 overs. van der Gugten supported Northeast with 38 off 19 balls with one four and four sixes. Root’s contribution to the match was not done yet as he took a stunning catch in the second innings. to dismiss Ben Charlesworth.
Peter Hatzogolou picked up three wickets for Glamorgan in ther win against Glousterchire
Peter Hatzogolou bowled a ball that was slightly short, Charlesworth picked up the ball and smashed it but Root came in from the boundary and took a tumbling catch to dismiss him. Tom Smith was Glousterchire’s best bowler as he picked up 2-20 in his four overs. In the second innings, Glousterchire could not match up to Glamorgan’s score. They ended up on 151-8 in their 20 overs and lost by 32 runs.
The bowlers from Glamorgan stitched an good performance together. van der Gugten also picked up 2-25 with the ball and had an all-round performance in the game. Hatzoglou was Glammorgan’s best bowler as he picked up 3-23 his four overs. Ruaidhri Smith picked up 2-19 in his four over burst. With this win, Glamorgan picked up their fifth in nine games and are placed at fifth with 10 points in the south group.
For Glousterchire , it has not been a good season in the T20 blast so far as they are at seventh place in the South Group with only three wins and six losses and have only six points. There are still lot of games to be played in the T20 Blast and it remains to be seen who will win the tournament.
