Cricket is a game played in the open, which is why it’s often that the game is at the mercy of the elements. Many a time, cricket matches are stopped due to rain and wet outfields. Sometimes, however, there are other factors that stop a cricket match as well. Fog for example allows for a cricket game to not go on as the ball is not visible. High winds also sometimes halt the play as bails keep falling down.

There are however certain stoppages that are made for some very rare reasons. One such instance that is going viral on social media comes from South Africa. The video that is doing the rounds of the internet shows a game of cricket being stopped due to a cobra!

Here’s the video:

The video shows players looking on near the boundary line as a Cobra slithered across the field. The snake could be seen raising his hood and threatening the players to not come near. The players could understand the sign and remained away from the snake as it made its way away from them.

One player appeared on camera saying, “It’s a fu**ing cobra bro.” Upon further research, it was known that the video is from a game at Milnerton Cricket Club in Cape Town.

The cricket club is located at Theo Marais Park, Koeberg Road, Cape Town. It is located right next to Table Bay Nature Reserve which explains the cobra on the cricket field.
