Pakistan and New Zealand faced off against each other in the second ODI of the three-match series on January 11, Wednesday and it was the Kiwis who came out on top post defeating the Men in Green by 79, after setting a target of 262. While one has to agree that fans witnessed the wrath of the Black Caps pacer during the first innings, they witnessed Aleem Dar losing his patience, in a rare incident as well.

To add more to the incident, during the 36th over off Haris Rauf in the first innings, Glenn Phillips hit the ball towards the deep square leg, eventually picked up by Mohammad Wasim. Much to the surprise of the spectators, the throw, unfortunately, hit Dar’s legs, who threw away the jersey of the pacer in pain.

While the Kiwi batters tried to pacify the Pakistani umpire, the likes of skipper Babar Azam and his teammates were spotted laughing at the umpire, unaware of Dar’s struggle. Eventually, Naseem Shah, the young Men in Green pacer, massaged the umpire’s leg, with the hope to relieve him of the pain.

Devon Conway, Kane Williamson star for New Zealand in epic victory to level series

Post losing the first ODI, the Kiwis marched on to the crease after winning the toss, only to lose Fin Allen early on in the innings as the batter made his way back to the dressing room post contributing only 1 run to New Zealand’s scoreboard. It was Devon Conway and skipper Kane Williamson who stood up for their team with their 101 and 85 respectively, helping the team put on the defendable total.

On the other hand, the Pakistanis got off to a disastrous start with opener Fakhar Zaman returning for a not. Imam-ul-Haq, on the other hand, perished for 6 runs off Lockie Ferguson’s delivery, eventually making way for veteran wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan.

Despite Babar’s great-hearted 79, Pakistan fell short of the target by a decent margin and let the Kiwis level the series. The final contest between the two teams will be played on Friday and both teams would look to give it their all with the hope to clinch the series.
