The Indian women’s cricket team created history when they won the gold medal on Monday. This was the first time that Indian cricket was taking part in the Asian Games. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team beat Sri Lanka in the finals by 19 runs to win the gold medal.

The Indian men’s team is up next as they will start their campaign on 3rd October. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named the skipper of the side. Team India will play in the quarter-finals and will look to add another gold medal to the Indian kitty.

India’s women’s cricket team is back in India as they reached late on Tuesday night. The girls were afforded a huge reception. The heartwarming video has gone viral and become a social media hit.

Fans show their love to the gold medalists

The Indian Women’s team came back to India after beating Sri Lanka by 19 runs to claim the gold medal. This was the first time India had taken part in the Asian Games in the cricket event. The women had made the nation proud by reaching the top of the podium during the 2023 Asian Games.

The Indian team had made it to the final four stage after their Quarter-final game was rained out. India had beaten Bangladesh in the semi-finals to in a low-scoring contest. In the finals, it was Sri Lanka who were standing in the way of the gold medal.

India batted first and scored 116/7 from their 20 overs. Smriti Mandhana top scored with 48. She was well supported by Jemimah Rodrigues who scored 42. The Indian team had done well to score on a pitch that was conducive to slow bowling.

Chasing 117 to win, Sri Lankan batting was then rocked by the 18-year-old Titas Sadhu. The young pace bowler reduced the opposition to 14/3 in the early part of the chase. Titas Sadhu ended with figures of 3/6 from her 4 overs which also included a maiden over.

Sri Lanka could only score 97 from their 20 overs. The Indian spinners then showed their class with some amazing bowling. Once the last ball was bowled the Indian eves all celebrated the monumental effort.
