Season 9 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is set to begin on October 7, Friday, and the first game will be played in Bengaluru to start off with. The PKL has produced many world-class players who have made a name for themselves. One of those champions has been Rahul Chaudhari who will be playing for the Jaipur Pink Panthers this season.

The showman has had a dip in form in the past seasons and more so in season eight of the league where he played seven matches for Puneri Paltan. He also accounted for just 13 points in what was a below-par season for him he will be looking to start well with a clean slate and get a lot of points for his new franchise.

The ace all-rounder has had good form behind him as he recently won a gold medal at the National Games as he led Uttar Pradesh. This will hold him in good stead going into the league. He is eager to get on the mat and prove that he has not lost his sheen as the leading player in India’s indigenous sport.

I am learning a lot from the younger raiders: Rahul Chaudhari

“Last season was terrible time for me, but it’s over and here I have a chance to make a new start. I captained UP to a gold medal in the National Games, I enjoyed my game, and I am confident of carrying that form into PKL. I am ready to do whatever it takes to prove myself and show that I am still capable of doing special things in Pro Kabaddi,” Rahul told Sportskeeda in an exclusive chat.

Rahul wants to come back as a stronger version of himself and he is doing all that it takes including taking tips from his juniors such as Arjun Deshwal and Ajith Kumar. “I am learning a lot from the younger raiders in the team. In earlier seasons I wasn’t picking up too many bonus points, but I am learning that from Arjun. In Ajith’s case, he has the fantastic ability to pull off subtle hand touches that the defenders don’t even feel, I am trying to do that too.”

“See this is my 9th season in PKL, I’ve played for so long that people know my main skill. For me to sustain, I am trying to learn things to make my game better. This season we will work together as a team in Jaipur Pink Panthers and hopefully lift the title,” said the star allrounder. He added that he is yet to win a PKL title and that he will do whatever it takes to help his team win.
