The Mumbaikar came in and provided some amazing innings in the middle order and scored quick runs for Chennai Super Kings, which helped them to have an enforcer when it came to dictating the proceedings in the match.

Now, ahead of the World Test Championship final, Rahane talked about the team environment coming into the big clash. “Rohit Sharma has been leading the side so well, everyone contributing, we are playing consistent cricket in all formats, the culture is very good, Rohit & Rahul bhai handling the team well and that is helping a lot, everyone enjoying each other’s company,” Rahane said in an interview.

Ajinkya Rahane has scored 4931 Test runs for India

Rahane has made a comeback into the Indian Test side after a gap of 18-19 months. They have brought him back to provide experience in the middle order. The absence of Rishabh Pant in the middle order has facilitated his return to the XI.  He might be a starter in India’s plans come the big game. The Rohit Sharma led side will have a stern Test against the Australians at the Oval come June 7.  The Dukes ball will be used for the fixture and also there is a reserve day in place to account for rain.

Rahane has been an experienced kingpin for India in Test cricket. Rahane has scored big runs for India in crunch situations and has played valuable knocks abroad. He has scored 4931 runs in 82 games at an average of 38.52 and a strike rate of 49.44. The right-hander has scored 25 fifties and 12 hundreds in red-ball cricket.

India will want to do well and break their 9-year trophy drought against Australia. They lost the WTC final in 2021 against New Zealand. Australia will play the Ashes after the WTC final culminates. The game promises to be a mouth-watering contest.
