The Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders are locking horns in the 47th match of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League 2023. Both teams are struggling in the tournament as they only have six points to their names with three wins in the nine and eight matches they have played respectively.

The hosts Hyderabad and the two-time champions KKR will be eyeing to revive their hopes to stay alive in the contention of playoffs in the tournament. But the former blistering Indian opener Virender Sehwag has come up with a very unique comparison of the SRH vs KKR clash to Team India’s position in the 20-20 World Cup 2007, the inaugural edition of the 20-20 World Cup where India emerged as the first ever champions of the tournament.

“When you’re down, you don’t have much expectations from yourself. And due to that, the players can just enjoy themselves out there and they can actually perform better,” said Sehwag to Cricbuzz while discussing on the SRG vs KKR clash.

“The best example of that is our performances in the 2007 T20 World Cup. We didn’t have any hopes, nor anyone had hoped for us. It was a new team with a new captain. we enjoyed ourselves, hit fours and sixes, the bowlers bowled well, and we won the final. So, when no one has expectations from you and you know you have nothing to lose, you can actually enjoy more and perform well. And then, you can actually have a chance for qualification,” the two-time World Cup winner added later.

Kolkata Knight Riders post a decent target for SRH to win

Talking about the current action of the ongoing match between SRH and KKR, the latter won the flip of the coin and decided to bat first. Batting first, Nitish Rana’s men have posted a decent total of 171 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. The in-form Southpaw Rinku Singh once again proved his worth and scored 46 runs with four boundaries and a six to his name. Other than him, skipper Nitish Rana also played a crucial knock of 42 runs with three boundaries and the same number of sixes to his name.
